Halo Machinima

Fireteam Expendable is an animated machinima series by TheReconJacob, also known as Authentic Animations. Set during the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, it tells the story about a group of insignificant soldiers trying to get off the Halo Ring without getting themselves killed.

The show's first Season is available and was also released in the form of a film that was just under an hour long[1].

Background[]

Fireteam Expendable tells the tale about a group of marines who are trying to survive after being caught in the middle of the war between the Humans and the Covenant. Throughout their journey, they will encounter some unexpected foes and allies, and face a very harsh reality.

Throughout the series, the characters often find themselves clashing with one another because of their very different moral standards. But the situation they're in forces them to work together in order to overcome it.

3 A New Threat 3:28 Something went wrong, causing the lifepod the marines were in to crash. Meanwhile, Captain Keyes and some other soldiers are struggling to fight off a swarm of covenant.[4]
4 Rogue Spartan 8:26 It turns out that Tom barely managed to survive the impact of the crash thanks to the assistance of the Covenant and their advanced technology. However, his survival turns out to be far from lucky. Meanwhile, the other marines stumble upon a crewman with a mysterious weapon.[5]
5 Inner Conflict 8:27 Douglas tries to learn more about Hugo, but ends up being on the receiving end of his bottled up anger. Tom, Zack, Captain Keyes and Sgt. Johnson attempt to escape the Truth and Reconciliation.[6]
6 Revenge 3:35 Sgt. Johnson and Tom conflict about whether or not they should try to save others, or abandon the Halo Ring. Zack attempts to avenge his Father.[7]
7 Say Cheese! 4:27 Josh and Gage attempt to capture one of the patrolling dropships nearby. Hugo tries to look for Douglas.[8]
8 Search for Survivals 6:53 After managing to successfully board the Truth and Reconciliation, Josh, Gage, Hugo and Douglas go on a search for Captain Keyes.[9]
9 We're Expendable! 6:55 Gage expresses his doubt as to whether Josh actually knows what he's doing. With them being completely surrounded by the Covenant, their chances of escape are looking incredibly slim.[10]
10 Turning the Tides 9:47 After narrowly escaping the Truth and Reconciliation with their lives, Josh, Gage, Hugo and Douglas have one last thing to do, defeat a Spartan...[11]


Trivia[]

  • Douglas is the only character to appear in every single episode despite having the least screentime.
  • Many of the assets used in the series are unused assets in Combat Evolved.
    • The Gravity Rifle can be found in the files of the PC version of the game.
    • The Blind Wolf and Thorn Beast appeared in the E3 2000 trailer for Halo: Combat Evolved. They were never used and can't be found in the game's files.
  • Mohammed Applecream's actual surname is "Abdelkarim", and his first name is actually spelt "Mohamad". It's deliberately mispelt just to piss him off.
